From Vision to Action: How Café Malté Became a Proof of Concept and The Path Forward

Starting a business begins as a dream, a seed of an idea that grows through conversations and connections. The true transformation happens when this idea becomes tangible. For me, this moment arrived during Weekend 12 of Café Malte’s pop-up. I realized that what began as an online shop had blossomed into a unique brick-and-mortar experience, a proof of concept that turned a cargo container into a cherished community space.

Café Malte’s Lasting Influence

Café Malte x Mtl Latte Heart was more than a summer business; it was a heart-driven passion project. As the weeks unfolded, I began to understand the café’s profound impact on the community. The joy of seeing regulars every weekend became a highlight, with some conversations enough to uplift my tired spirit. The service industry is one that requires an incredible amount of giving, but it’s also a beautiful addition to any community. It’s a space where people come together, share stories, and connect over something as simple as a cup of coffee and a cookie.

Exchange of Energy and Growth

I poured my heart and soul into Café Malté. From my energy and love to the finances I could give for this project, I gave it everything I had. And in return, the café gave me something even more valuable—an experience rich in learnings, connections, personal and professional growth, and memories that I’ll carry with me through to my next venture. This experience has taught me the importance of giving and receiving in the exchange of energy.

The Path Forward

As I rest and reflect, I feel a renewed excitement for Mtl Latte Heart. With my experience in marketing and advertising, I know where my strengths lie. My focus now is to find a team that shares my passion, allowing them to handle the day-to-day operations while I lead with vision and creativity.

Nurturing Growth and Community

Looking ahead, finding the right people to help carry the torch is crucial for Mtl Latte Heart’s growth. This journey is about more than business; it’s about building a community and creating meaningful experiences. As Café Malté closes on September 1st, the lessons and connections will light my way forward. The future is unknown, yet full of promise.

Commemorative Merch

To honor this chapter, I’m releasing a special collection of merch, created in collaboration with the talented Amelia, a barista and illustrator. This collection captures the creativity and joy that defined our summer, featuring items like a pocket t-shirt, sticker, and beanie hat. The collection is a tribute to the Zen Flamingo, the Lemon Party, the Unique Setting and Handmade Pottery Cups by Marina Manoushka that brought out the inner child in everyone. Though summer ends, the memories and magic live on through these items, available at Café Malte for the final weekends and later in my online shop.
